Topics Editor

Add and Edit

  • Add new topic using Add Topic button on right toolbar
  • Open existing topic by clicking Topic icon in 3D view

Editor panel

Basic information

  • Name - Topic name. Will be displayed in 3D on top of Topic icon. 
  • Description - Topic description as multiline text.
  • Type - Topic type. Type can be Note / Comment / Idea / Task / Issue / Risk / Requirement. This sets also Topic icon in 3D. 
  • Priority - Set topic Priority from Low / Normal / High / Critical. This sets also Topic icon color in 3D. 
  • Status - Kanban style status of the topic. 
  • Tags - Add custom tags to classifu topics. 

Additional information

  • Views - Topics can contain multiple views. Click on view thumbnail to activate different views. 
  • Objects - List of objects linked to topic. Use Link to Object tool to link objects to Topics. 

Workflows

Workflows are pre-defined phases with responsible persons and checklists that topics will go through before they are complete. Workflows can be for example quality assurance, approval, inspection, model checking workflows. Workflows are defined in Project settings / Workflows tool. 

  • Workflow - Select pre-defined workflow which topic will be using. 
  • Active Phase - Select phase current topic is in. 
  • Assign to persons - Assign person to topic. 
  • Checklists - Phase specific checklists. Check items based on their completeness. Checklist checkboxes define automatically topic completeness. 
  • Phase completeness - Set how complete topic is. If topic has workflow with checklists, this is updated automatically based on the checklist. 
  • Discussions - Discuss about the topic and keep discussions saved and linked to topics. This is important way to save so called silent information, which otherwise would be lost into emails and other messages. 

Buttons

  • View button - Save viewpoints into topic. You can save multiple viewpoints. 
  • Location button - Set topic location in 3D. By defining locaton, Topics will be visible in 3D as Topics icons. 
  • Link to Object - Select and link objects to Topic. 
  • Save - Save topic
  • Cancel - Sancel Topic editing

Tips

  • Define project standard workflows and link them to topics to improve quality and topic completion speed

Topics List

Topics list tool is used to manage large amounts of topics in an easy way with sporting and filtering tools.

Functionality

  • Sorting - Click on column header to sort column contents by default, ascending or descending
  • Filtering - Click on filter icon in column header to define filtering rule
  • Quick filering - Click on cell value to filer only those values
  • Select - Seclect topics using checkbox on left side of table
  • Delete - Delete selected topics with Delete button
  • New - Create new topics

Note: If there are many topics, topics are listed in multiple pages. You can switch between pages in bottom right pages tool. 

Tips

  • Click on your name to quickly list Topics assiged to you

Topics Report

Topics report tool is used to summarize all project reports into an easily readable table with key elements about topics.

Functionality

  • Browse topics using table with scroll bars
  • Topic columns show summary of topics
  • If topics have workflows there is a separate table for each worklflow. Table also contains workflow phases with information about each phase.
  • Export - Export topics report into Excel for further usage like analysis or reporting

Tips

  • Use Topic report for reporting project status to end customers. Topics report shows each project topic like task, their status and workflow phases. This is created automatically and saves you time making similar manual reports.
