Project Settings

Project settings defines project wide settings for different tools.

Note: Some settings are available only for Project Manager user roles

Generic settings

Project image

Project image allows set project thumbnail image in project list. By default it is automatically generated from the project's first viewpoint.

Startup image

Startup image allows setting a custom quick help image which is shown to users when users open the project. Custom image can contain for example customized quick help for public viewers, organization or project logo, or custom project image.

Project name

Project name will be shown in project list and in browser title as web page name.

Coordinate system

Active coordinate system which is used for example in model placement or show coordinates in Measure point tool.

Elevation system

Active elevation system (geoid model) which impacts model placement in Z direction. Many open datasets are generated into ellipsoid elevations, which means they contain geoid model elevations. Such datasets are for example 3D Earth by Google, 3D Earth by Cesium, many city models and photogrammetry models. Set this into a matching geoid model. Otherwise you can leave this as None.

Project rotation

Can be used to rotate project data in case some external background data is not in normal rotation. Impacts only models imported in “Plane” mode. Normally should not be used and left as 0.0.

Data credits

Shows how much current project uses data credits. Each project with added data files or data sources, and information added by tools, use data credits. Data credit usage is explained here.

Rebuild

Re-imports all project data files. Sometimes older imports may use some older importer version, or if custom import settings have been used, it can be beneficial to re-import all data files with new settings or update imports to use the latest importer versions. Should be used with great care and only in rare cases if recommended by support experts.

Description

Longer text to describe for example project contents or other generic information. This is only visible in Project settings tool.

Public

Makes the project accessible without authentication with a “Public” viewer role. This is mainly used to publish projects on-line for public participation to allow the public view the project and give feedback. It is important to note that this does not make the project visible to search engines, and end users still need to know the https link to the project to access it.

Template

Converts the project into an organization project template, which will be visible in the project template list when creating new projects.

Attributes

Tool to define custom attributes, that can be used to add custom information to model files, model objects or Sketch models. Custom attributes are visible and editable at model or object level in the ObjectInfo tool “Custom” tab.

Users

Tool to manage project users. Available only to Project Managers, who can invite other users to join the project. Invitations are sent by email, and invitation also defines which role the user has in the project.

User roles differ as follows:

  • Manager - can manage users and their access
  • User - can add and edit project data
  • Collaborator - cannot edit project data but can use collaboration tools like Topics
  • Viewer - can only view the project
  • Public - tools available for public viewers when project is published as public project

It is also possible to define user groups, which makes it easier to manage for example access rights to folders and data sources.

Library

Tool to define project level 3D model library. 3D models in the library can be used in the Sketch tool to draw for example multiple 3D objects with pre-defined library model settings. Library models can be in glTF or GLB formats.

Roles

Tool to manage which tools are available to which project user roles. Turn on/off tools based on what you want to allow for different roles.

Feedback

Tool to define feedback forms to add point of interest information panels, or feedback questionnaires into the project. Feedback form can be generic form which is available via Feedback button, or Location feedback which will be shown as feedback icons in pre-defined locations.

Workflows

Tool to define Topics workflows. Workflows contain phases, and each phase contains responsible persons and checklists. There can be multiple workflows depending on use cases, for example model checking workflow, design approval workflow, quality inspection workflow, … These pre-defined workflows are then assigned to Topics in Topics editor.

Template

Tool to create a project template from the current project. This will create a copy of the current project and make that as a template. This way the current project remains as an individual normal project, and template is created as a new template project. Template projects can be accessed from the Project list in the Templates section.

Log

Tool to view project level logs. Only available for Project Managers. Can be used for example to trace back project changes, or to calculate how much project has been used.
