Create a new project

The Create a new project dialog is used to create a project and define 

its basic settings, including the coordinate and elevation

Create a new project

  • Open Create a new project.
  • Fill in the required fields (Title, Organization, Coordinate system).
  • (Optional) Select an Elevation system.
  • (Optional) Add a Description.
  • Click Create New Project.

Fields

Title *

Project name. It appears in project lists and headers.

Organization *

Select the organization the project will belong to. This typically affects visibility and permissions at the organization level.

Coordinate system *

The project coordinate reference system (EPSG). Default is EPSG:WGS 84.

Choose the system that matches how you want to manage locations and map data.

  • WGS 84 (EPSG:4326): global latitude/longitude.
  • Finland (common): if you work with national projected coordinates, a typical choice is ETRS-TM35FIN (EPSG:3067) (if available in the list).

Elevation system

Vertical reference system used for heights/elevations. Default is None.

  • None: elevations are handled “as-is” without a defined vertical datum.
  • If you use an official vertical datum (e.g., N2000 in Finland), select it if available.

Description

Free-text description of the project (e.g., purpose, location, phase, relevant links).
